Consultation on the proposed merger of Maritime Academy Trust and Spring Trust
We are pleased to share some exciting news about a proposed merger between Maritime Academy Trust and Spring Trust. Subject to the successful completion of the consultation process and approval from the Department for Education, Spring Trust would join Maritime Academy Trust.
This proposal brings together two Trusts with a shared vision, values and commitment to providing high‑quality education for children.
The proposed merger aims to strengthen leadership capacity, increase opportunities for collaboration, and ensure long‑term sustainability for our schools, while preserving each school’s unique identity and local community links. By working together within one trust, we believe we can better support pupils, staff and wider communities.
Formal consultation began on 15th June, and will run until 14th July 2026 and will provide opportunities for feedback from all stakeholders including staff, parents/carers and wider partners. Following this public consultation with all stakeholders, the Trust Boards of both Trusts will independently decide if the merger should go ahead.
